What is a Google Business page?

Previously called Google my Business, it's the section that comes up on the right hand side of the page when you search for your business in Google.

Our Google my Business page. Find it by searching 'Online Designs St Neots' in Google

Why should I have a Google Business page?

It's not a choice - having a Google my Business page is essential. It's amazing for your SEO as it's a Google-owned service, plus keeps your customers updated straight from your Google listing. You can't expect good search results for your website without a Google my Business page.

What does it do?

It shows customers information about your business at a glance. This includes:

  • Opening hours

  • Areas served

  • Contact details

  • Links to your website

  • About you

  • Reviews

  • Updates from your business

How do I manage it?

It's easiest to manage using the Google Maps app.

If you're using a computer, you should see an admin bar in your Google search page when you search your business name.

This contains all the actions you can take on your profile.

If you can't see this bar, click your face in the top right hand corner of any Google page and then click 'Business Profile'.

Edit Profile = Edit your basic information shown on your profile.

Read reviews = Read & reply to reviews left by customers.

Messages = If you've got messages turned on, customers can message you directly. You can receive notifications with the Google my Business app.

Add photo = Anytime you like, you can add photos of jobs or projects completed, or of your office/team. These show up in your general profile and won't disappear.

Add photo = Check how many people are seeing your Google my Business. If you're on our Pro or Plus+ plans, we include this in your analytics report.

Advertise = paid options to boost your page. Ask us for help.

Edit products = If you sell products, click this to add them directly to your Google my Business page.

Edit services = Click this to amend what services Google are showing to your customers.

Bookings = This allows you to add a link to your booking system, if you have one, allowing users to skip having to go through your website.

Q & A = If any customers ask us a question on your page, it'll come up here. You can answer it using this feature.

Add update = This is essential. Click this to add status updates like any other social media platform. Do this twice a month at least.

Ask for reviews = Gives you a link you can send directly to your customers to ask for reviews.
